Teaching Resources

So, you've read the books, possibly completed a TEFL or CELTA course, and arrive in Japan only to find that your typical student just doesn't respond to your carefully planned lessons. Or prehaps you arrived with only a vague notion of how you'd actually teach English and are struggling for ideas. Don't panic! In this section we aim to share with you our experiences of teaching in the EFL/ESL classroom in Japan. We bring you everything you'll need to be successful in your classes.

Picnic Basket Craft & Activity

Picnic basket template With the weather getting warmer it's the ideal time to introduce a picnic theme to your lessons. With this great free craft your younger students will get to make a picnic basket and then with a selection of picnic related flashcards to color, they can then decide which items to put in their picnic baskets. We've kept the craft deliberately simple so that it can be used with very young learners through to elementary school aged children. Included in the package are three designs of basket template, flashcards and full instructions plus ideas for activities. Enjoy!

weather bingo

Weather Bingo It seems that wherever you are in the world most conversations start with a little chat about the weather. As it's such a useful ice breaker it's often used in kindergarten and elementary classes as part of the warm up routine. Although asking "How's the weather?" every week can get a little repetitive. So let us introduce our weather bingo game with matching weather flashcards. Everything you need, weather flashcards, game boards, instructions and markers are bundled in one easy to print adobe PDF file.

Class Games

Teaching young learners requires a different set of skills than older students. These kids just can't stay still for any length as time, not because they have short concentration spans but because they pick everything you teach up so quickly they soon get bored! So you need a set of quick, easy to learn games that will be fun for the kids while at the same time keeping mom happy due to the educational value. Look no futher than our game page...

Seasonal Crafts

As an English teacher in Japan you're often asked about holidays, culture and customs back home. This is especially true when teaching to younger students, as they (and their parents) are keen to know all about life in a foreign country. With children's classes there is no better way to introduce a bit of home culture than by making simple crafts. And just in case you are looking for something about Thanksgiving in May or Christmas in August the links to the seasonal pages are given below:
